Prayer Line Ministry – Jesus encourages us to ask, to seek and to knock and we do just that believing in the power of prayer and God’s unconditional love for us. We believe that because we are instruments of intercession; we strengthen our relationship with God as we pray for others. As we ask the Lord to have mercy on others; He has mercy on us, and we grow spiritually. We also know how comforting it is to realize that people are truly concerned and pray for the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Prayer Line Ministry consists of a group of people who pray for anyone for whom a request is submitted. A request can be as simple as: “Please pray for my friend who has cancer.” It is not necessary to identify yourself or the reason for the request. Please call 570-753-5938 to be part of this ministry or to request a prayer.

Prayer Shawl Ministry – This ministry strives to bring God’s love through the comfort and warmth of hand made prayer shawls for women and lap robes for men. The shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a prayer of blessing is offered before the shawl or lap robe is sent on its way.

For years, hospice patients, the elderly, and others who needed a special blessing have been given knitted and crocheted gifts. Some recipients have continued the kindness by making a prayer shawl and passing it onto someone in need. Thus, the blessing ripples from person-to-person, with both the giver and receiver feeling the unconditional embrace of a loving God!

You can join the Prayer Shawl Ministry by making shawls and lap robes. To request a prayer shawl for a friend or loved one or to join the Prayer Shawl Ministry please call the Parish Office.
