Liturgical Ministries
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion – Ministry is not a job, but an act of generous and thoughtful service that identifies us as a people of God!
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are men and women who assist in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ. The phrase “Do this in memory of Me” is not only a reference to the act of consecration, but also is an instruction to all who are baptized to imitate Jesus by feeding his people. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion perform that task in a literal fashion. The Eucharist as Holy Communion is the reason Catholics gather for Mass. We step forward to accept the Bread of Life and the Cup of Eternal Salvation which sustains us in our attempts to be better disciples.
A small amount of training is required and scheduling is flexible. Please contact the parish office to become part of this important and rewarding ministry.
Extraordinary Ministers for the Homebound and Sick – Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion bring the greatest gift – the Body of Christ – to the members of the parish family who are homebound, sick or in a nursing home. Jesus has a special love for those who are hurting.
These ministers have a role in sharing the Church’s total ministry to the sick after the manner of Jesus. In bringing Communion to the sick and homebound, they represent Christ and manifest faith and charity on behalf of the whole community toward those who cannot be present at Sunday Mass. This ministry is a powerful symbol of unity and a sign of support and concern shown by the community for its members.
The homebound and sick find it a comfort and a source of healing to have Holy Communion brought to them as often as possible.
A small amount of training is required and scheduling is flexible. Please contact the parish office to become part of this ministry.
